It is with deep regret that we inform you of the death of Roy Ramsbottom.
Roy was a Cricket Enthusiast, as former Sponsor of the Cheshire County Cricket League, Treasurer of the CCCC, and Chairman of Oulton Park CC
who he guided from relative obscurity to the pinnacle of Cheshire Saturday Cricket and where his loss will be keenly felt.
He was never afraid to voice his opinions or court controversy, but his obvious enthusiasm for the game and to achieve the best for Cheshire Cricket often won over opponents and sceptics alike.
It is to be hoped that his long campaign to have the Cheshire County XI made up of Cheshire-based players, and thus more readily identifiable to the ordinary Cheshire cricketer, will continue to bear fruit and prove to be a success.
As for the VRCF, Roy's immense support was vital in it's formation and early days and we owe him a great debt.
