The Cheshire Cricket League

The following info attempts to clarify the various Rules regarding Promotion & Relegation, both inside the Meller Braggins League and between the MBCCL & the County League above & the Alliance below.

Inter League
In general, a Club is Promoted or Relegated depending upon their 1^st XI results only. Promotion is dependent upon the Club satisfying the receiving League's grounds criteria. Potential promotion candidates will have been visited by the receiving League before the end of the season, to ensure that there are no nasty surprises! A Club's 2^nd XI move Leagues with the 1^st XI, regardless of their League finishing position.
The bottom two from the CCCL Div 2 will be relegated to MBCCL Div 1, their 2^nd XIs will also be relegated, to MBCCL Div A.
They will be replaced by the top two from MBCCL Div 1. See below for the implications on 2^nd XIs.
The bottom two from MBCCL Div 3 will be relegated to the Alliance Division 1, to be replaced by the top two from that Division.

Within MBCCL
1^st XIs
The bottom two from Div 1 will be relegated to Div 2, replaced by the top two from Div 2. Similarly, the bottom two in Div 2 swap with the top two in Div 3.
2^nd XIs
This is the tricky bit! If both Clubs promoted to CCCL have their 2^nd XIs in Div A and the Clubs relegated to the Alliance have their 2^nd XIs in the Division C, then it's simple - the teams just swap with those going in the opposite direction, and the bottom two teams in Div A get relegated to be replaced by the top two from Div B.
Otherwise..... if a Club promoted to CCCL have their 2^nd XI in Division B or C & they have WON that Division, they would have been promoted to Div A anyway, so the normal relegation from Div A still stands. If another Club wins the Div B, then the top two still get promoted to Div A, and an extra team gets relegated from Div A!
