MBCCL Suspensions 2011 Season
The following players and Clubs have been the suject of disciplinary proceedings during 2011 season.
Once a judgment is made, it will be posted here, but note that players and Clubs may then lodge an appeal should they wish to do so.
Where the time limit for this has not passed, this will be noted as 'subject to possible appeal'.
T. Entwhistle (Hale Barns CC) - 1 match (dissent), commencing Fri 29th April (fast track)
From Bowdon Vale vs Sandbach 14th May,
S. Hopton (Bowdon Vale) pleaded guilty to failing to conduct himself properly on the field of play, suspended
4 weeks, " of which suspended until end of 2011 season. Account taken of guilty plea.
Bowdon Vale CC found guilty of failing to take adequate steps to ensure the good behaviour of their players.
A reprimand was recorded and the club warned as to its future conduct.
J. Kara (Sandbach CC) was charged on three counts that he failed to conduct himself properly on the field of play.
He pleaded guilty to two counts and was found guilty on the third count. Taking into account his guilty pleas,
a total suspension of six weeks was levied, four weeks of which were suspended to the end of the 2011 season.
S Kara (Sandbach CC) was found guilty of a charge that he failed to conduct himself properly on the field of play.
A four week suspension was imposed. Additionally 25 league points were deducted from Sandbach CC’s 1st XI,
5 of which take effect immediately. The remaining 20 were suspended until the end of the 2011 season.
Sandbach CC was found guilty of a charge that it failed to take adequate steps to ensure the good behaviour
of their players. A reprimand was recorded and the club warned as to its future conduct.
In deciding on penalties on players the committee took into account in all cases suspensions already
imposed by the clubs and the above periods of suspension do include those imposed by the clubs.
Both clubs have confirmed that there will be no appeals against these decisions.
R. Farmer (Alderley Park) suspended for 1 week from midnight 10th June after mandatory report from the
umpires in the game at Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge on 4th June.
Five penalty runs were awarded after a series of warnings under Law 42.14, Batsmen Damaging the Pitch.
Paul Jackson (Davenham CC) was suspended for one week with effect from midnight on 29 July 2011 under the fast
track regulations following an incident of dissent on 23 July 2011.
The League Disciplinary Committee met on Thursday 11 August 2011 to consider charges resulting from the 1st XI
fixture between The Groves CC and Sandbach CC played on 9 July 2011.
The following findings were reached:
S Kara (Sandbach CC) was charged that he failed to conduct himself properly on the field of play in that he
contravened sections 1.1.4 and 1.1.5 of the disciplinary regulations. He was found guilty on both counts.
A six week suspension was imposed and 25 league points were deducted from Sandbach CC’s 1st XI. As the
Sandbach CC representatives informed the hearing that there would be no appeal against this decision the
suspension will start immediately. Additionally the suspended penalty of 20 points to be deducted from
Sandbach CC, imposed at an earlier hearing on 2 June 2011, will now be activated.
Sandbach CC was charged that it failed to take adequate steps to ensure the good behaviour of their players
in accordance with section 1.1.8 of the disciplinary regulations. The club was found guilty and a deduction
of 100 points from Sandbach CC’s 1st XI was made. This penalty is suspended until the end of the 2012 season.
Tom Garrett (The Groves CC) received a mandatory suspension of one week, taking effect from midnight on Friday
9 September 2011, under the Fast Track Disciplinary Procedures, after being stopped from bowling under Law 42.6
& 7(dangerous and unfair bowling) during their game against Chelford CC on Saturday 3 September 2011.
The disciplinary committee met on 19 October 2011, following reports received on the match played between Davenham CC
and Hale Barns CC on 17 September 2011. The following decisions were reached:
1) B Gough (Davenham CC) and S Jaiswal (Hale Barns CC) were each charged with failing to conduct themselves
properly on the field of play in that they contravened section 1.1.5 of the disciplinary regulations.
Finding – Both players were found guilty. Penalty – A two week suspension was imposed on each player.
2) B Gough was also charged that he contravened section 1.1.4 of the disciplinary regulations.
Finding – He was found guilty. Penalty – The committee noted the five week suspension already imposed by Davenham CC
and considered this to be appropriate.
SANDBACH EXPELLED FROM MBCCL
The disciplinary committee met on 7th December 2011 to consider the following charges against Sandbach Cricket Club:
- That on the 28th August 2010 Sandbach CC were guilty of improper conduct in that a player by the name of Akash Malhotra
played for their first team against Chester County Officers CC without being duly registered under league rule 19.
- That on 28th August 2010 Sandbach CC were guilty of improper conduct in that they falsified a league result sheet by putting
the name M Farid instead of Akash Malhotra, thereby purporting that Farid had played when in fact Akash Malhotra had played under Farid’s name.
- That on 28th August 2010 Sandbach CC were guilty of improper conduct in that they played Akash Malhotra in their first team
fixture against Chester County Officers without having registered the said player as an overseas player under league rule 18(b).
The first two charges were admitted and the third was found proven.
As penalty, Sandbach Cricket Club is expelled from the league under section 5.3.7 of the league disciplinary regulations.
The club is not going to appeal against this decision.
