First of all, let's confirm what's happening due to Alsager dropping out of the County League & Stockport joining our League in 2008.
Only 1 Club will be relegated from the County League, but two promoted from MBCCL as normal. This would leave our Div 1 short a team, so in consequence, only 1 Club will be Relegated from our Div 1 to Div 2 & similarly only 1 Club from Div 2 to Div 3, while two Clubs will be Promoted from Div 2 & Div 3 as usual. Because Stockport are joining our Div 3, we will still Relegate 2 Clubs from Div 3 to the Alliance, with 2 Clubs being Promoted from the Alliance to Div 3.
Subject to Grounds Criteria of the receiving Leagues being met, of course!
Similarly for the 2nd XIs, only one team will join Division A from the County League. Also only the bottom Club in Divs A and B will be Relegated to Divs B and C.
It's a wrap!

Division 1 MBCCL. Stockport Georgians batted first in their title decider with Marple and got max batting pts, meaning that they only needed 1 Marple wicket to secure the title. Marple managed to score 200 and win the match, but lost 7 wickets, so congratulations to Stockport Georgians for winning the Title & to Marple for finishing runners up. Both Clubs are promoted to the County League. Oakmere needed to beat Malpas to have any chance, but lost by 8 wickets and finish in 4th place, Brooklands pinching 3rd by beating Ashton-on-Mersey. At the bottom, already-relegated Prestbury made it three wins in a row, surely they would have finished higher up the table had they had their full side available more often.

The single Relegation place from the County League Div 2 went down to the wire, with Winnington Park beating Hale Barns to stay up, while Congleton lost at Tattenhall and will join us in Div 1 next season.

In Div 2, competition for the 2nd promotion spot to join Mere in Div 1 next year all got very complicated. Barrow lost at Over Peover, Winsford lost to Weaverham while Lymm OP failed to dislodge Barnton's last pair (including me - sorry lads!) as they sought the 25pt win which would have put them into 2nd with only the Trafford MV result to come. Finally word came through that Trafford MV had bowled out Alderley Park and jumped into 2nd place. Congratulations to Champions Mere & Trafford Metrovick on their promotion to Div 1. Pott Shrigley put up a great fight at Mere, but their hosts squeezed home by 2 wickets. Their efforts would have been in vain anyway due to Over Peover's win, so Pott will play in Div 3 next season.

In Div 3, Northwich nerves were on edge as they scraped home by 1 wicket at Castrol to clinch the Title. Chester CO gained a 25pt win over Wistaston Village to earn their second successive promotion but Chelford, also trying for 25pts, came unstuck at Offerton where Ian Bates hit 124* to help Offerton win by 7 wickets. Congratulations to Northwich & Chester County Officers on their promotions, and commiserations to Knutsford & Offerton on their relegation to the Alliance.

Speaking of the Alliance, all the top 3 teams won, so Bunbury are promoted as Champions. But the Alliance's points system is similar to our new one, so although Hartford were 5 ahead of Kingsley in 3rd place at the start of the day, Kingsley levelled it up by gaining a 25pt win to Hartford's 20. Kingsley take the second promotion spot by dint of having won one more match than Hartford.
So we will welcome Bunbury & Kingsley into the Cheshire Cricket League in 2008.

2nd XIs.
In Div A, congratulations to Champions Brooklands and runners-up Oakmere. The single team relegated to Div B will be Malpas despite a brave effort in passing 200 at Okamere, after Old Parkonians lifted themselves from the danger zone by earning a 25pt win at Cholmondeley.
In Div B, Northwich are promoted as Champions after beating Lymm OP. News of a dramatic finish to the deciding match for the 2nd Promotion place between Weaverham & Winsford. Winsford scored 175 All Out and when Weaverham reaching 174 for 9 all results were still possible. Then a direct-hit run out won the match for Winsford, the 25 pts meaning that Winsford are promoted. Had Weaverham managed to level the scores, even if they were then All Out, they would have gained enough points for them to be promoted instead!
Wow!
Prestbury will be the sole team relegated to Div C.

In Div C, Barnton batted first to make sure of getting the 6 pts they needed to take the Title and did so. Although they couldn't bowl out Castrol, their 15pts for the draw saw them finish 10 ahead of Wirral who did their best by gaining a 25pt win against Trafford MV.
