Ground Inspection Reports 2009

Below are the Reports of the Ground Inspection Committee 2009. Following that is a summary of actions required by Clubs to bring their facilities up to the standards of the League.

During this years inspections, efforts were been made to ascertain what would be needed for clubs to meet an enhanced criteria. It was pleasing to see that many clubs had already made good progress along these lines, particularly regarding covers and umpires rooms. At a good majority of clubs there would be little or no improvement needed to attain the new standards and it is hoped that the few clubs still in need of improvements would embrace the new criteria and work towards satisfying it's goals.

ALDERELY PARK
New ground in use and still bedding in. Square would benefit from heavy rolling and the outfield, whilst still variable has improved. The club have no heavy roller and aquiring one would help improve evenness of ground. Facilities in main building are of high standard, but there needs to be some provision of first aid available on ground, there is none at moment.

ALVANLEY
All areas in excellent condition and wickets always play well. New scorebox this year and all areas easily meet new criteria.

ASHLEY
A very good facility and continues to be steadily upgraded. No areas of imediate concern and club would have no problems meeting new criteria.

ASHTON ON MERSEY
No areas need to be addressed to meet new criteria, excellent facility throughout. Another sightscreen at each end would be only improvement needed.

ASTON
Only enhancement required would be to shower area, which would benefit from another showerhead. The clubhouse is in need of a new roof and this project is a priority for the club. There had been instances of below standard pitches. It was accepted that disruption to preparation due to weather had contributed to this, however there had been problems with bowler's footholds disrupting a game and it is hoped the club would look into this particular problem for next season. All equipment of good standard and nothing needs to be added.

BARNTON
All areas on and off-field are of a high standard and plans are still in evidence to enhance pavilion. 2 more sightscreens are also planned. Only thing needed is drying equipment, apart from that, all areas meet new criteria.

BARROW
Ground in 1st class condition. Work started on extensive improvements to clubhouse and all expected to be ready for next season. The only thing needed to meet new criteria would be covers - sheeting used at moment.

BOWDON VALE
All areas are of excellent standard. Another sightscreen at each end would improve ground, but in general club has no problems meeting new criteria.

BUNBURY
Very homely and comfortable club with excellent amenities. Unfortunately club had suffered some vandalism problems which had caused a temporary loss of umpires changing facilities. There were, however, plans to extend and upgrade pavilion to increase size of dressing rooms and provide better and more spacious umpires changing for next season. Otherwise, all areas meet new criteria.

CHEADLE HULME LADYBRIDGE
New drainage had improved outfield although one area appeared dry and cracked, club were aware of attention needed and were working on problem. Ground would also benefit from a treatment of weedkiller. Only equipment needed to meet new criteria would be covers. Sheeting used at moment.

CHESTER COUNTY OFFICERS
Superb facility and well up to standard. Still further plans to improve and add to an already impressive array of ground equipment. No areas of concern.

CHOLMONDELEY
Again all up to standard with no issues to address. There are now 2 sightscreens at each end and a new scorebox is planned.

CONGLETON
Excellent facilities and ground. Ex County League and easily meet their criteria. No areas need addressing.

DAVENHAM
Club had repaired or replaced equipment that had broken down year before and wickets/ground was benefitting from hard work done. Sightscreens are slightly on small side and club are thinking of enlarging and adding two more at each end. There are no problems with meeting new criteria.

HALE BARNS
In County League last season and easily meet criteria. After some criticism outfield is now cut by a private contractor and much improved. Club have grant applications for improvements in several areas including covers and drainage.

KINGSLEY
All areas of club are good. The waterhog promised last season has arrived and there are no issues to address to meet new criteria.

LINDOW
Ground, outfield and perimeter all well maintained as was the pavilion. Sightscreens repaired and club only require covers to meet new criteria.

LYMM OP
Excellent all round facilities. Ground, square and perimeter all well maintained as were off field facilities. New covers and only area that could be improved is adding an extra showerhead. There are still plans for refurb of pavilion which will allow for this.

MALPAS
Recently in County League and standards have remained high. Excellent range of equipment and club is of very high standard and no areas are in need of addressing.

MERE
Club starting to move in right direction again. Umpires changing has been provided and a general improvement made all round. There are still several areas in need of attention to meet new criteria, these being: covers, drying equipment, refurb of shower area and addition of at least one more shower head. The club had some thoughts and plans to carry out all above and whilst League are mindful of finance constraints, it is important that progress is made steadily and club work to fulfill these ambitions.

NORTHWICH
Facilities meet and exceed league requirements. There are no areas in need of addressing to meet new requirements.

OLD PARKONIANS
All aspects up to standard of new criteria. There are plans for new changing rooms. These are dependent on grants through rugby and cricket sections.

OVER PEOVER
Ground and amenities in excellent condition. Club were hosting mid week games for RadbrokE Hall and had inherited a sit on roller and excellent set of covers through this arrangement. All areas of ground were in very good condition with off field facilities clean and comfortable. Club's priorities were to fence off old pond area - this was needed to be done to comply with child safety and welfare regulations. Only areas of concern to meet new criteria were: small umpires room, only 2 showers and dressing rooms not lockable.

POTT SHRIGLEY
The drainage problems were being addressed, however there was still some work to do in this area. The covers have been repaired and were in use, there is still need for another cover to be added to keep more of bowlers run-ups covered. There was still no sightscreen at one end and it is thought that now boundary has been brought in from the slope there are several options available to address this - it was promised that this will be looked into and the League think this must be a priority to be in place for start of next season. Unfortunately there had been a theft of equipment and club were waiting for insurance claim before committing to any large financial outlay. Several ideas are on agenda for ehancing changing and showering facilities and were being discussed at club meetings.

PRESTBURY
All areas of good standard and pavilion kept clean and tidy. Footholes on wicket ends could be better repaired and an extra showerhead would be useful - only 3 at moment. Well on way to satisfying new criteria.

RUNCORN
All aspects of ground were of high standard. Efforts were been made to repair fencing and there were plans to improve showers for next season. Only thing needed is a scorebox and club are intending to erect one in the winter.

SANDBACH
A new ground and excellent facilities. Square playing well and has benefitted from being allowed to bed in whilst club played at Sandbach school ground. All amenities and equipment meet new criteria.

STOCKPORT
All areas easily meet new criteria. Another sightscreen at each end would enhance present one and the covers could benefit from having proper drainage pipes. Otherwise no areas are in need of improvement.

STRETTON
First class amenities with all round facilities and excellent range of equipment. There are no problems with club satisfying all new criteria requirements.

TRAFFORD MV
New clubhouse up and running and this is a superb facility. Work is needed on square, which is quite bare and a sightscreen needs repairing. The club could do with a heavy roller and better arrangements are needed for scoring facilities. Club should have no problems in meeting new criteria.

WEAVERHAM
All areas were in good order and club would have no problems meeting new criteria. Drying equipment has now been purchased.

WILMSLOW
Ground clean, tidy and well maintained, a good range of equipment available. Club would need covers to meet new criteria. All areas off field in Leisure Centre of high standard.

WINNINGTON PARK
Ex County League and all areas easily meet demands of new criteria. No areas in need of attention.

WINSFORD
Very high quality amenities, clean and comfortable throughout. Excellent playing area and good range of equipment available to help maintain standards, including excellent set of wicket covers. Possibility that club will acquire two more sightscreens at each end. No problems with meeting new criteria.

WIRRAL MP
All areas were in good order and tidy condition and club possess all necessary equipment, covers and sightscreens to satisfy Meller Braggins criteria. There have been applications to ECB for funding to improve nets, a new mower and a water point on square.

WISTASTON
All areas would meet new criteria. excellent facility and ground equipment. There had been a couple of below standard wicket marks and the club were aware of the problems and working hard to improve this situation.
